Alice cant resist the birds , Newton by the Sea , Northumberland

We love the way she initially eyes them up nonchalanantly then saunters closer then just as you're thinking of raising the camera she is off and at them , and then on her way back , flat out or at a greyhound angle ( sideways ) having charged right into the sea after them , including submerging herself but sadly too fast for me and the camera .... maybe next time ....

Ahh Shelagh you just made our dat!! The pics of newton by sea are lvly, I called Rob in to see them, we stayed in coast guards cottages, near to of hill, Mark played on the beach where alice was, and we used to have a drink in the square, and the telephone down the hill was where I phoned the ambulance when rob fell down the stairs!! and broke his neck!! the locals rallied round to look after Mark (and the little girl we were fostering) until granny arrived ( I was enroute in the ambulance to Alnwick then newcastle general!) We fell in love with it, and will be visiting there in 2 weeks)
thanks for making our day, happy memories (except the last part of course!!)

Hi Shelagh
Yes coastguard cottages still for rent, It took Rob a long time to recover, he was a very lucky man the fracture was so close to the spinal cord! he was in a neck collar 24/7 for 3 months, then physio and constant pain, this was some time ago (Mark was 8 ) but still Rob has nerve damage, the trip to Alnwick was in a landrover ambulance with a soft collar!! until xrays found the damage, then he was on a spinal board and a very slow ride to Newcastle! very traumatic, but the people in newton and newcastle were fantastic!! hence our love for the area,
take care
joan
