Ferret on the Beach

Joined the Northumberland Greyhound Rescue group on the Blyth beach today so that Alice could meet other greyhounds .

The greyhounds were great . Alice was the tiniest of them all , determined to keep at the front of the walk as best she could . And we saw something you wouldn't find on Tynemouth beaches , a ferret on a lead . I asked for a photograph and was given a guided tour . Such a sweet little thing , tiny teeth and much sniffing the air like a kitten as she looked at me and allowed me to stroke her .

Ferrets are pretty cool but let loose in a house - omg they can pull down curtains, shred toilet paper, just generally get into and mess up everything. Very cute - but I wouldn't have one!

You sound as if you speak from experience BetteJo ... I was anxious as she headed for my legs ....they move a bit too fast for me ...

Hey you! :) I love the new pics..especially of Alice smiling. My sis had two Italian greyhounds and oh my goodness, they're one of my fave breeds. When I laid eyes on them for the first time, all I could do was laugh. One of them used to sleep under the covers on my feet for hours and hours...what a treat in the winter. I made sure I always kept a pedicure for him. lol... What worries me and keeps me from ever having one (aside from the fact I don't have a great yard at this point and I know they like to run like crazy) is the delicacy of their legs, and if they have a break..the expense of the fix, or the simple fact that a fix is often not possible. Are the legs of full size Greyhounds any stronger than IG's?

(Hi - it's been a while! I am trying to come back, slowly-ish but surely-ish)

Hi Hinsley great to see you back , we got insurance just in case , but her legs are very skinny ... so far so good . She runs like mad for a few minutes ( we have a tiny yard too ) but then likes to sleep 23 hours a day , they dont have much stamina . I dont know how the legs compare with IG s as we dont see so many of them here , maybe someone else can help ?
